How is bee venom obtained

    Physicians often use bee venom in the use of bee therapy.     Bee venom is a poisonous liquid secreted by the venom and accessory venom glands of worker bees and stored in the venom sac. When worker bees defend themselves, the venom is expelled from the tail sting. Based on this, people's initial method of extracting bee venom was to kill chickens to retrieve eggs: that is, the tail of the bee was cut with scissors and bee venom together with the bee stinger, and then air-dried and ground into powder. This method is very inefficient, and the purity of the bee venom obtained is extremely low, and the hygiene work is not in place.

    Later, people used ether extraction method to paralyze the nerves of bees and promote their detoxification. But it is also due to the same reason that the obtained bee venom is not of high purity and has to be abandoned. Until 1955, people finally discovered an efficient collection method: electric shock to get poison.

Working mechanism

    Electric poisoning is to use a certain current to pass through the body of the bee. After the bee is shocked by the electric shock, it will produce a detoxification reaction and discharge the bee venom. The removed bee venom should be packed and sealed in a brown glass bottle for purification.

Matters needing attention when extracting bee venom by electricity

• 1. A bee farm with a better natural environment should be selected for the poison collection site, so as not to affect the quality of bee venom by the dust and automobile exhaust. Operators and poison-taking utensils should pay attention to cleanliness, especially the poison-taking board should be disinfected with ethanol, and do not smoke or use sprayers during work. Do not open the beehive to watch when taking the poison. After a group of bees has taken the poison, the bees should be quiet for 10 minutes before removing the poison-taking device.
• 2. The time to take the poison should be selected when the wild mountain flowers are less blooming. Because the poison is taken when the mountain flowers are in full bloom, the worker bees will spit honey while detoxifying, which will contaminate the bee venom. Taking poison should be done in the evening or at night when the temperature is not lower than 15 ℃ and the wind is small (but not more than 11 o'clock in the evening). • 3. The bee colony that takes the poison should choose a colony with more strong and old bees, because the young bees are easily injured by electric shock when taking the poison, and the amount of the poison will also be reduced.
• 4. Bee venom has a strong odor and is highly irritating to the human respiratory tract. Wear a mask when scraping the poison.
• 5. The bee colony after taking the poison should be properly rewarded and fed, supplemented with nutrition, and promptly recovered the physique of the bees after the electric shock. In addition, it is not advisable to move the beehive after taking the poisonous bee colony. It is necessary to rest for 3 to 4 days. After the "residual anger" of the bee colony is eliminated, the position of the beehive can be adjusted.
• 6. The obtained bee venom should be sealed in a dark bottle and stored in a low temperature place.
