Ways to keep pollen at home

Bee pollen contains a variety of vitamins, trace elements and enzymes and other nutrients. It is a very popular bee product, but how to store bee pollen best?

1.Refrigeration method

The moisture content of bee pollen is reduced to less than 10% after drying, put it in a food plastic bag and seal it, and put it in a cold storage of minus 20 degrees, which can keep its nutrients for several years.

2.Deoxidizer method

Oxygen drop agent is a chemical preparation that removes free oxygen in the airtight container through a reduction reaction, thereby preventing food from spoiling and becoming moldy due to oxidation. After drying the bee pollen, make the water content below 6%, put it into a packaging bag (the air permeability is 60 ml/square meter), then add the universal oxygen drop agent TC~1000, seal it, and store it in the dark at room temperature. Using this method, bee pollen can be stored for one year. During the storage period, the appearance quality of bee pollen such as shape, color and odor remains unchanged, and the moisture content is slightly reduced, and the mold content is significantly reduced, which effectively controls moth-eaten. Among the main nutrients, protein, reducing sugar and trace elements did not change, free amino acids did not decrease, and vitamin C lost a lot. The cost of this method is low, and the deoxidizer is not more than 0.2~0.3 yuan per 50 grams of bee pollen.

3.Inflatable method

Dry the bee pollen to reduce the water content to less than 5%, then put it into a double-layer plastic bag, evacuated, filled with CO2 or nitrogen, 

4.Mixed storage method with added sugar

Half-horned bee pollen and sugar are mixed in a ratio of 2:1, packed in a container and pounded, covered with a layer of 15mm thick sugar, and then sealed, which can be stored at room temperature for two years. 

5. natural drying method

Dry the pollen to reduce the water content to less than 5%, put it in a plastic bag or other container, put it in a freezer at minus 20 degrees for 2~3 days or smoke it with ethylene oxide for 2.5 hours, then put it in a bag and kill it. Eggs in pollen of dead bees. The bee pollen treated by this method can be stored at room temperature for one year.
