In the process of bee breeding, when more than two colonies are raised, it is necessary to arrange the placement of the beehives reasonably. In particular, Chinese bees have weak nest recognition ability. If the placement of the beehives is not reasonable, it will lead to the bees of different colonies entering the hive door by mistake, resulting in biting and eventually causing losses. How to arrange the beehives reasonably? Now let's take a look at the arrangement and placement of bee hives!
Principles of beehive placement
The distance between adjacent beehives should be at least 3 m, and the distance between the front and back rows should be a little far, at least 5 m. The front row should be lower than the back row, and the front row should be lower than the back row, with a certain sense of hierarchy. This is the best way to put them.
The arrangement of honeybee hives
1. Cross arrangement
The Chinese bee hive is divided into two parts for arrangement, and a positive and negative box is inserted between the two hives, so that there is a distance between the hives, and the Chinese bee will not enter the hive door by mistake.
2. Rectangular arrangement
That is, they are arranged in a rectangular way, leaving some space between each hive, and then forming a large circle. The direction of the entrance of all the beehives is always around a place in the middle, which is circular, so as to prevent Chinese bees from being attracted to the hive.
The placement mode of beehives
The Chinese bee is different from the Italian bee. It has poor nest recognition ability, and is prone to the phenomenon of lost nests. Therefore, the hive can not be placed too far away. If there are only two beehives in the box, the distance between the two beehives should not be too close, otherwise it is easy to enter the nest door by mistake, causing tearing. The best way is to stagger the nest door when placing it, with one door facing south and the other facing north. Here is a little trick, that is, the Chinese bee hive should be placed in the opposite direction of the hive door. If the placement is consistent, there will be a phenomenon that Chinese bees are obsessed with the hive.
Of course, experienced old beekeepers can also place their hives close to each other, but their approach is to make a clear mark at the entrance of the hive, and the mark is highly recognizable. They often use marks drawn in different colors, so that bees can find their own hive door as soon as possible. Such a close distance of about 80cm is the most appropriate.
matters needing attention
It takes a while to change the position of the hive, so that the Chinese bees can get familiar with their hive door. After getting familiar with it, the beekeeper can slowly move the box to gradually adjust the distance. As long as the bees are familiar with the position of their hive, generally speaking, there will be no hive confusion. Although the bees will change the position of the hive manually, they will also slowly adapt. If there are new bees joining, do not put them in the hive that has been moved. The best way is to put them in the corner of the whole place, and let them fly for a while. After finding their own hive, move the box slowly.
In addition, the bottom of the beehive can be supported with bricks, and the height is about 15-25cm. This can prevent moisture and ants, followed by drying and ventilation.
Note: The above methods are not suitable for the transfer of Chinese bees.
