Apistan bee strips are a chemical method used to kill varroa mites in hives. The active ingredient, 10% flupropionate, can damage the mites' nervous systems, but has low toxicity to bees.

To use Apistan bars, we recommend hanging bees one bar every five frames. In the video, the top and bottom boxes each contain 10 frames, so we added two frames each. It is very important to use the full dose during treatment to avoid establishing resistance to Apistan in the mite population.

Apiguard

Active ingredient: thymol

Apiguard is a thyme-based treatment for bee mites, which is an ingredient in plant thyme oil. A full dose of Apiguard is added to the hives by one foil packet for two weeks, then replaced with a second foil packet for another two weeks. Acaroid fast strip

Ingredient: formic acid

Acaroid Quick strip is a formic acid treated varroa mite designed to kill mites under the hatching cap where they breed. Therefore, it is important to place these strips on top of the box with the chicks in your hive.

Conclusion:Using the mite removal quick bar, place a treatment on top of the incubator for 10 days. At the end of the treatment period, the strip is removed and safely discarded

Don't use the same treatment every time. Different treatments were used to reduce the resistance of varroa mites to the treatment.

Remove synthetic chemicals as per manufacturer's instructions to avoid resistance.
